Im 18 and Ive had pretty much every animal common and somewhat uncommon to a normal household. But ever since I discovered sloths, Ive been in love with them the past few years and I want one SO VERY BADLY. But I cant find anywhere that sells them, and for a "decent" price. If anyone running the website or anyone reading this comment knows anywhere in the US that sells them and would be willing to help a girl out with some info, I would LOVE YOU FOREVER. Ive done pretty much all research possible on their eating habits, defecating routines, cleaning, taking care of, and everything inbetween. I am so determined to get one I just need a place, and a price preferably around or under 3000$.

I am going to keep this short, because I know you get a lot of inquiries that are not serious (I do, with my animals). I am ready for a bigger challenge in animal husbandry and would like the two-toed sloth to be my next project. I have careful read your page as well as others, and also the fish and wildlife requirements. I live in Florida (Milton) and in this state the sloth is a Class III. I own a pair of fennec foxes (I pull the young the day they are born and hand rear) and already have a Class III permit for them; I'd simply add them to the permit. I am 7 hours from Melbourne and could drive down to pick up the sloth.

Ideally I'd like to start with a female and get an unrelated male next year; however, you state that you cannot provide a specific gender, is that correct?

Please email me to let me know how you would like to proceed (deposit now?) along with a timeline.

I handle all of the sloth import and sales as well as quarantine. We presently sell baby female sloths for $6500.00 and have a waiting nlist of 3 people ahead of you. We have paperwork promised for 6 more for the year and have one preparing for export possibly the first week of August.

Procedure for Obtaining a two toed sloth

Here's the procedure for obtaining a two toed sloth. Only the Linnaeus two toed sloth is available for purchase as the three toed sloth is neither bred in captivity nor is it allowed for export from the wild at this time. In the U.S. Some states may require wildlife permits to keep sloths so before you consider wether it would be in the best interest of a sloth to be in your care, make sure you can legally own one. In addition countries other than the U. S. may have restrictions regulating the keeping of sloths. It's recommended you check with your appropriate wildlife regulating agency for your specific regulations. Here in Florida you are required to have a class 3 licence which is obtained through the Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission, they can be reached at www.myfwc.com.
Presently we have a waiting list of domestic customers as well as an international list waiting on the availability of baby sloths. The domestic list is comprised of first time customers waiting for a baby female sloth and a list of previous customers interested in purchasing a baby male sloth.
On our waiting list are people that have shown an interest after they have reviewed the details of getting a sloth below and are still interested in pursuing the purchase further. It's important to realize that only imported sloths are available at this time. Socialization of baby sloths is possible with work. Socialization of juvenile sloths is possible with more work and socialization of adults is not likely. In other words if you think that all baby sloths will be cuddly and friendly right out of the jungle you probably will not be a satisfied sloth owner. These are exotic, wild animals that come from the rain forest. They have very special requirements and are not toys. They are unique and fascinating creatures that special owners can obtain and should only be considered if you are serious about being part of the future of this species. Captive breeding of the Hoffman's and the Linnaeus two toed sloth is happening in some zoos and some babies have been born in captivity in the private sector, most likely from imported pregnant mothers, but captive bred two toed sloths are not yet available. It's possible that in the future if enough people raise wild imported babies a captive breeding population will be established eliminating the need for imports, and more importantly creating a captive reserve for this animal before it's habitat is severely reduced.
This is how it works.
Once a sloth is in hand with our exporter in Guyana we begin at the top of the list and the first person to make a verbal commitment is our next customer.
The process of obtaining a sloth involves the import of a healthy baby sloth from Guyana, South America. Females are available for $6500.00 ea. Since most of the babies are females, with a sex ratio of 11 females to 1 male, we expect our next shipment is likely to be a girl. If we do get a male it would be available only if you have purchased a female from us already and would sell for $8500.00.
The price includes all costs associated with getting the baby to our store where we quarantine the animal and make sure it is healthy and eating normally. We have taken great pains to export to South America our captive diet and our babies are already on the same diet you will feed it for it's entire life. Our quarantine takes up to 2 months, depending on the size of the baby when it arrives, but may take longer. We determine what is enough time to make sure that the baby sloth is acclimated to captivity and the stresses of export have not effected it's digestive tract.
If it is your turn on the buyers list you must deposit $2500.00 towards the baby once we have shipping documents showing the export is scheduled. These documents are inclusive of CITES paperwork, Health certificate from the country of origin,exporter's invoice, and airway bill showing the flight is booked. If you are unable at the time the sloth is booked to pay a deposit, you lose your place in line until the next import is available and we move to the next person on the list. If you place a deposit to confirm your purchase, your deposit is refundable if any of the following occurs: the shipment does not arrive, the baby is not healthy when it arrives, the baby has not adjusted to our captive diet, the baby does not have a regular bowel movement after acclimation,( defecation for a baby sloth can be every 2-5 days or as frequent as every day), or the baby cannot pass the health certificate from our US vet. In the case of digestive issues you can, at your discretion, wait for improvement of it's condition, or see how the animal progresses without committing your deposit as non-refundable.
One thing that should become clear is that the digestive system of baby sloths is very delicate. Failure of the baby to properly digest can be fatal and protection of the bacteria essential for healthy digestion can

Hello,
I am not in the place to.be able.to get a baby sloth right now, but I have done hours upon hours of research on them, as I am about to go to college I intend to get one after I graduate and get to somewhere where I can take care of him or her properly. Do you see your sloths still being available about 5 or 6 years from now?
